Let your students experience the magic of the Town Hall with our exciting and informative workshops and tours.

Town Hall Opera Workshop

A really exciting opportunity for young people to experience a two hour workshop* at the Town Hall led by three professionals, covering:

  • Singing, acting & drama
  • Crafts through set design
  • Creative writing
  • Composition
  • History and context

Tickets: There is a 35 per group limit, with a maximum of 2 groups per visit. £50 per session

Your visit can include an additional free 30 minute Town Hall heritage tour, subject to availability.

Musician School Visits

Let us come to you!

A) Mini Concerts

We have partnered with a duo of musicians (harp, cello) who can come to your school and deliver high quality 45-minute concerts or assemblies.

A varied programme presented in an interesting and engaging way by storytelling about the music and composers as they go.

Musicians are available on Friday mornings.

B) Introduction to Opera

A fun, bite-sized introduction to the world of opera, including a professional performance, a chance to engage and ask questions as well as learn to sing some famous tunes along the way!

Delivered by soprano and baritone. Perfect for assemblies!

Cost: £100 per visit option. These options can be delivered to any number of children.

Free History Tour

A two hour visit can include:

  • Tour of the Town Hall venue, including the newly opened up Courtroom, Police Cells and the Old Fire Station
  • Heritage guide who will tell you the history of the building, why it was built here in the late 1880s and how it has changed over time
  • Learn about the amazing performances and events which have taken place here
  • Visit Middlesbrough Council Chamber to discover how the Council works for you and our town

Find out how the Courtroom and the Police Cells worked.

Recreate real Courtroom dramas from the late 19thC and early 20thC.

Maximum group size of 35 students + staff.

The building is fully accessible to those with mobility difficulties. Scheduling of visits will be negotiated subject to other events that may be on, and wherever possible to suit you.
