A performance with radios by Tess Denman-Cleaver

Town meeting tonight! Town meeting tonight!

Middlesbrough’s inaugural Town Hall Meeting of the Air is a new performance by Town Hall artist in residence Tess Denman-Cleaver.

Town Hall Meeting of the Air combines theatre, poetry, sculpture, sound installation and live radio in an exploration of how civic architecture, media and technology shape the language of public discourse.

Written and performed by Tess and incorporating live radio broadcast, Town Hall Meeting of the Air takes the format of a town hall meeting at which audiences are invited to take their seats within a sculptural stage set designed by artist Kate Liston. The immersive sound design of the event has been developed with Tim Shaw.

Tess Denman-Cleaver is a North East based artist originally from Gateshead. Her work spans live performance, performance writing, artist publication, workshops and installation.

Town Hall Meeting of the Air is a Middlesbrough Art Weekender and Middlesbrough Council commission. It is supported by a National Lottery Project Grant from Arts Council England
