Teesside born, Richard Grainger and Lancashire lad, Chris Parkinson, are two living legends of the British Folk scene.
Richard is a prolific songwriter, playwright and musician who has performed in the UK and around the world, since the 1980’s. A Teessider with an international following, he has produced 14 albums over a 30 year career. The author of scores of songs about Teesside, many have found their way on to several of his albums, most notably ‘Town In Time’, the 1999 CD album of Middlesbrough songs and tunes.
He also produced, in conjunction with Sir David Attenborough and the BBC, ‘Eye Of The Wind’, a musical play telling the story of Middlesbrough’s most famous son, Captain James Cook. This will be performed in 2019 and 2020 in New Zealand and Australia.
Chris Parkinson is a multi instrumentalist who rose to fame in The House Band during the 80’s. He has accompanied Richard since the early 90’s and has also enjoyed spells with Martin Carthy, Ralph McTell, Eliza Carthy Band, Steve Tilston and Jez Lowe.
As you can imagine the duo offer a rare mix of excellent songs and scintillating instrumentals – not to be missed.
