Joshua Connor, Cello
Joshua Connor is a 13 year old cellist from Darlington, County Durham. Joshua began playing the cello aged 5 on the Foundation Strings programme at The Sage, Gateshead and has studied with cellist Deborah Thorne for the last seven years. Joshua achieved Grade 7 with distinction in 2017 and is working towards Grade 8.
Josh has been a member of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain since the age of 9 and thoroughly enjoys the challenge, rigour and friendship of the residential courses and concerts. He also plays in the Tees Valley Youth Orchestra.
Aside from playing the cello, Joshua is also a keen singer, performing with Tees Valley Youth Choir, Chamber Choir and Barbershop group in the local area and further afield at the National Festival of Music for Youth and Llangollen International Eisteddfod. He is also a keen drummer and enjoys the variety of styles of music that this skill allows him to play.
Joshua attends Carmel College in Darlington where he is currently a Year 9 student. In the future he hopes to go on to study Engineering, Law or Music
