The Carriageway is your go-to destination for fantastic food and coffee in the heart of Middlesbrough.
Located in the Town Hall’s carriageway, the café uses the very best locally and ethically sourced ingredients, with a selection of freshly made sandwiches, wholefood salad platters and hot dishes, and a daily-changing specials board.
Coffee lovers will find responsibly sourced coffee from Rounton’s – freshly roasted in North Yorkshire – with organic milk from Darlington’s Acorn Dairy, a selection of organic teas from Storm Tea Merchants in Newcastle, and award-winning single origin hot chocolate – the perfect accompaniment to one of their freshly made scones and cakes.
The Carriageway is open Monday to Saturday 10am – 5pm (hot food served until 4pm).
There’s a wealth of bars and restaurants within short walking distance of Middlesbrough Town Hall, including French-English bistro Bistrot Pierre, Turtle Bay for Caribbean and cocktails, and the quality independent bars and eateries along Baker Street and Bedford Street.
