Northern England’s global collective Rafiki Jazz migrate to a new utopian soundworld with their new 4th album release ‘Saraba Sufiyana’ (Mystic Utopia). Onstage the band showcase adventurous world music of our times, landing you in a unique zone of displacement occupied by enchanted voices, deep memories & rootsy folk histories.
At the core of this unique Rafikian global masala are inspirational Sufi singer Sarah Yaseen, ace Senegalese griot kora player Kadialy Kouyate, and Egyptian oud & ney virtuoso Mina Salama. Add in a hot and exotic blackline of Caribbean steelpan and hi-life guitar, Carnatic violin and drone, with Indian tabla & Brazilian berimbau plus deep electric bass, and this amazing world music group’s cross-continental trajectory is clear!
Be taken away by music of this world and the next, to a space where kora & tabla dance with berimbau, oud & steelpan, and much more…
