PP Arnold featuring Steve Cradock

Wednesday 2 October 2019

Support from Jon Allen

Catching the eye of Mick Jagger aged 19. PP Arnold landed in London as part of Ike & Tina Turner’s band supporting The Rolling Stones. PP Arnold carved out a five-decade career working with everyone from Jagger, Rod Stewart, Barry Gibb, Eric Clapton, Paul Weller and Primal Scream, to name a few.

Rediscovered mid-90’s records of PP Arnold by Steve Craddock let to ‘The New Adventures Of PP Arnold’ album.

The record spans emotive orchestral soul, sunshine pop, epic, edgy house music recorded with a choir and a Cathedral pipe organ.

“It’s soul music, really, I can’t get away from my gospel roots. My whole sound, my soul and expression is coming through my spirit.”

“The New Adventures of P.P. Arnold” album (CD, LP, DL) Out now!

Jon Allen has a voice you don’t forget. Just ask Jools Holland, who demanded Jon appear on “Later…” after hearing him on the radio. Or Duffy, who heard his version of “Mercy” and called him in to the studio – only to find that he wasn’t the black soulman she had imagined. Or the millions of viewers of “Homeland” transfixed by his track “Joanna”. Or the BBC Producers repeatedly A-listing his songs. Or fans Guy Chambers, or Mark Knopfler, or Jo Whiley, all of whom have been entranced by his trademark mix of catchy tunes and folk- and Sixties-inflected country blues.
